The 149-year-old Mt. Washington Auto Road has seen the likes of horses and carriages, camels, people, bicycles and most famously, competition race cars. On September 8th, Traveling at an average speed of nearly 72mph in a Vermont SportsCar prepared, BFGoodrich Tires-shod 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally car, four-time Rally America National Champion Travis Pastrana made sure the project name, Red Bull Speed Chasers, lived up to its name. He reached the summit faster than anyone else in history by clocking an officially timed run of 6 minutes 20.47 seconds, besting the previous record by more than twenty seconds.
The tour will start in Brisbane Australia on the 7th of May 2010 and will continue through to 4 other major Australian cities before hitting Europe. Alpinestars was on location to bring you a sneak peek.

Levi takes out silver medal on freestyle moto X just being Travis Pastrana yesterday night in Los Angeles and that was enough to earn him a guest spot on The Tonight Show today! The XG rookie, 18, from Palmerston North, New Zealand, was actually slated to make an XG appearance in 2009 but had to drop a week before the contest because of right knee and left wrist injuries. Levi exploded onto the freestyle scene in March 2009 when he won X-Fighters Mexico City. Not only was it his first major freestyle contest, but he was also the youngest rider ever to win an X-Fighters event. Known for his flexibility and huge extension, Levi’s style has caught the attention of the freestyle world. Fresh off another X-Fighters victory (Moscow, June), look for Sherwood to give the vets a run at XG.
Madrid X-Fighters went off on Friday, the riding was at it’s best and we even got to see some brand new tricks in competition.
Aussies Jackson Strong, Clinton Moore, Robbie Maddison and Cam Sinclair were all on hand, as well as Kiwi Levi Sherwood, but come the top 8, and only Maddo and Levi were left with a chance of the win. It is fair to say Clinton, Jacko and Cam all had their sights set on X Games the following weekend, and held alot back.
